Patricia Hassey Allard, learned her to take on difficult,sometimes time consuming ,most times items that would be "passed by"....if not for her "eye" and expertise in refinishing furniture,exoctic woods included,to iron,to her fabrics all vintage..Patricia first learned the use of the basics when she worked at "the fine tool shop's"...then the complex use of the proper materials...to other mediums..iron,steel, very early on...also learning the craft of metal etching, to stone,wood carve/chiseled tools and how to use them, detect a particular wood,exotic or not/marble or marble dust apart..to the use of different plaster's used with mix's..from the 1800's to present..everything in this picture is a refinished piece...from the ivy candle,to the pillows, to the table, to the mirrors, corner cabinet, quilts, even the 1930's gold store bust...Patricia's homes have always included spaces for her to work and refinish a piece most would pass up, either too time consuming, to not looking at "another use/function" or "out of the box" design...over 29 years experiance in this field,is essential, in the field of design,in her opinion..as Patricia beleive's if at all any peice can be "refreshed" or "refinished" to fit into the design..and her client's have a bit of trouble "giving it away'...she has worked with such items..learning at an early age the art of old fashioned embroidery.."hand embroidary"...sewing, and he knowledge of being taught by a woman whom was the fabric reseach assistant at a museum...always learning..Patricia's edgy, and eclectic design's are not for everyone..but as she said.."your house is your home design it to how you live, and what you love..keep..always learning ...is key too.
